Centralised HVAC, the most failsafe, reliable heating and cooling technology available on the island, will soon be available to new residents at Tigné Point
SIS Ltd will be providing centralised heating and air conditioning services to the Tigné Point development. Hot and cold water will be produced at a central location and then distributed sitewide to residential, retail and commercial customers who will be living and working in the upmarket and unique development which is Tigné Point. SIS Ltd will be embarking on this multimillion euro investment because it believes that this solution is an extremely reliable, efficient and safe way to heat or cool a building. This kind of investment is a first for the Island as it will bring the benefits of centralisation to individual residential units. Centralising production ensures that customers enjoy economies of scale and also benefit from cutting edge technology which would not be financially feasible if installed in individual buildings.

Siemens Building Technology as a technological partner fully recognises that energy conservation and optimisation is the lifeline to any facility. The innovative solution being proposed is designed with environmental and community responsibility in mind. Both partners recognise that climate change is a fact and that : • 40% of the world’s energy is consumed by buildings • 21% of greenhouse gas emissions worldwide comes from buildings’ energy usage • Building owners are under pressure to reduce energy consumption. Siemens‘ industry-leading energy efficient portfolio reduces operation costs and carbon footprint, without compromising the comfort of the building’s occupants.
A win-win situation Centralised HVAC is the most failsafe, reliable heating and cooling technology available on the island. Qualified operators and technicians will monitor and maintain the equipment 24 hours a day. By design, backup and routine upkeep will take place without service interruptions. The system also offers a significant cost advantage to the end customer, offering advantages over the entire life cycle from lower upfront capital cost to lower overall operating (electricity consumption) and maintenance cost. It also frees up premium space in the individual building, ensuring a better return to the building owners. The proposed system is also flexible in that it allows simultaneous heating and cooling. This is the ultimate solution in space comfort, giving due attention to different requirements within the same apartment such as destination of use or orientation. Thus one could easily cool the kitchen which may be south-facing and simultaneously heat the living which may be north-facing. One of the most important gains with centralisation is energy efficiency. Enhanced efficiency is guaranteed throughout the life cycle, beginning at the design stage by choosing best in class equipment to operations by utilising fully automated building management systems. The value of the asset and optimisation of running costs is further maximised though a well planned and exceptionally executed maintenance regime. Above all in this age of increasing ecological awareness, the system is environmentally sound as conceptually it is a cut above the rest in terms of energy efficiency. This contributes to reduce air pollution, reduce global warming and reduce emissions of ozone depleting refrigerants. Above all, it reduces the carbon footprint of individual building, thus making the building more viable and increasing its resale value and leasing potential. This is definitely a win-win solution which leads to an enhanced customer experience, an adequate return on investment for the shareholders and a pragmatic and effective approach to safeguarding our environment.
